Untrained and unapologetic, Cecily DeAngelo is a fiercely independent New England artist whose curiosity and potential are only just being unlocked. She works primarily in oils, but has become increasingly conversant in digital painting and other media in recent years. It's rare that an untrained fine artist exhibits this much upside, this early in her career. Collectors and curators alike would be wise to earmark Cecily's work—and to remember her name. Cecily is a trained nurse who brings an understanding of anatomy and sense of humanity to her subjects, whether they are found posing on her Instagram feed or crashing on her living room floor. She is a co-founder of @BLMArtallies, which has raised over $7k for racial justice in 2020.

It's the raw fulfillment that's unmatched outside the studio, that keeps me cross-legged on the floor in front of a canvas. The plastic pallets scattered with mixed colors and lumps of half-dried oils are reminiscent of where I started five years ago and the fiery pit in my belly serves as the reminder that there is only one spot I'd like to be.
